PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This position is to provide research and knowledge management operation for the WDB Zenzele Development Trust. The Zenzele Development Trust is a social work trust which performs work in 18 dimensions of poverty to enable women in poverty in South Africa. It is essential for a potential candidate to ensure that they understand the mission and purpose of The WDB Trust and are cognisant that the requirements and rewards of this position are in line with those of a Non-Profit Organisation

DETAILED KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

BACK OFFICE DUTIES 

  • Check payment requisitions to authorised budget from the field and in headquarters
  • Loading of payments and payroll deductions onto operational banking system
  • Set up of an orderly filing system
  • Assist in the budgeting preparation and monitoring process
  • Assist in the regular updating of an external audit file
  • Ensure that the Fixed Asset Register reconciles to the general ledger

MONITORING AND EVALUATION 

  • Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly report on quantitative performance
  • Produce weekly, monthly and quarterly narrative report from the existing dashboard
  • To consolidate, track, and report on the implementation of all WDB Zenzele Development Trust programmes, including financial management of programmes
  • To dictate the standardisation and prescription of processes and templates, with clear requirements for customisation as pertains to various programmes
  • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly monitoring reports to managing director, executive committee
  • Collate reports from finance and HR on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis

RESEARCH MANAGEMENT 

  • To coordinate research programme concepts and industry understanding in order to assist programme managers to conceptualise and develop programme frameworks and content

STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION SUPPORT

  • Understand, modify and amend existing business plan as per approved strategy

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT 

  • To oversee the design and implementation of an appropriate knowledge management strategy
  • To oversee the establishment and management of WDB Zenzele Development Trust knowledge management approaches and systems

ADMINISTRATION

  • Prepare board packs with all governance compliance
  • Take minutes in strategy meetings, board meetings and other meetings where Zenzele is involved.
Specific requirements
  • Data management
  • Research: data capturing, capturing software, questionnaire design, analysis and report writing
  • Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Competencies in using Microsoft Office
  • A data language would be preferred: SPSS, STATA, Atlas.ti , NVivo
Experience
  • 8-10 years of experience conducting research in developing countries and providing high-level analysis, interpretation and summaries of the findings for a range of audiences
  • At least 5 years of experience in developing and working with M&E frameworks and tools; demonstrated ability to coach and train others in using monitoring and evaluation (M&E) methodologies to measure impact of development projects/ programmes
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on M&E results to incorporate lessons learned into program designs, implementation as well as for awareness-creating campaigns
  • Ability to develop and manage functional knowledge management systems and knowledge-sharing platforms to accelerate learning within and outside of the organizations
Qualifications

At least an Honours degree in the humanities (industrial psychology, sociology, political science and community development), BCom Economics or a degree in Business Administration or Statistics
